This Project aims to establish the base for realizing fast and stable information conveyance among government and response agencies and also with the general public when necessary. This will be done through establishing a nationwide digital radio communication system for response by government and response agencies. It is intended that this will strengthen the insubstantial radio communication system through an Emergency Telecommunications and Early Warning Systems (EWS) in Jamaica, for disaster prevention and also serve to enhance public safety and overall national security while building economic resilience.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) through the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) will be executing objectives under the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) Improving Climate Data and Information Management (ICDIM). ODPEM’s is responsible for implementing a number of deliverable under component two (2) of the project: Subcomponent 2.2 Preparation of Vulnerability Assessments (VAs) in selected sectors and Subcomponent 2.4 carrying out Community Risk Profiling and developing targeted Early Warning Messaging for vulnerable groups
