Influenza A (H1N1) is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by a virus that is easily spread from person-to-person.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A person can get Influenza A (H1N1) by:<\/p>

  • Breathing in the virus when an infected person coughs or sneezes.<\/li><\/ul>
    • Contact with objects that have been recently touched by an infected person such as a door knob and telephone.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat are the symptoms of Influenza A (H1N1)?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t
      • Fever<\/li>
      • Headache<\/li>
      • Cough<\/li>
      • Sore throat<\/li>
      • Runny and stuffy nose<\/li>
      • Extreme tiredness<\/li>
      • Muscle aches<\/li>
      • Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea (these symptoms may also occur but are more common in children)<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

        To prevent the spread of H1N1:<\/p>

        1. Wash hands regularly with soap and water.<\/li>
        2. Use paper towel (tissue) to cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.<\/li>
        3. Dispose of used tissue in the garbage IMMEDIATELY.<\/li>
        4. Avoid close contact with persons exhibiting flu-like symptoms, such as handshaking, hugging or kissing.<\/li>
        5. If you are sick stay home until you are well. If you have severe flu-like symptoms contact your doctor IMMEDIATELY.<\/li>
        6. If you have travelled to or come into contact with someone from an affected country such as Mexico, Canada, UK or USA, and have flu-like symptoms, contact your doctor or nearest Health Centre immediately.<\/li><\/ol><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
